I’m Mary Frances Clardy, a teacher of 23 years.
I’m running for school board in Inver Grove Heights ISD 199.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. As a teacher of more than 20 years in our community and a single mother, I know this to be true – and it all begins with a strong and healthy education system where every child can thrive.
As both parent and teacher, I believe we should provide our children with every possible opportunity to develop academically, socially and emotionally. When children are given opportunity, they reveal their talents and excel. It can be as simple (but effective) as providing culturally relevant and inclusive materials, which have been proven to increase performance of all students in a classroom.
If elected, I will work tirelessly to strengthen our college and career readiness programs and improve access to real-world skills like financial literacy. I will also look out for our youngest learners and their families by advocating for accessible, quality Pre-K for all. I want to work with parents and teachers to make our schools better.
As a candidate, I have…
Taught K-8 students in St. Paul public schools for 23 years
Earned a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction
Coached fellow teachers on best instructional practices for 10 years
Received the Educator of Excellence Award
Been recognized by the Governor and other leaders to serve on the Board of School Administrators and State Board of Teaching
I know how important it is to have an education system that focuses on the whole child. Nurturing student growth and honoring each child’s unique ability to achieve is what drives me as a teacher, community member, mother and now, your school board candidate for Inver Grove Heights.
Are you with me?
